Recently, scientists found a mysterious “Cold Spot” in space. The Cold Spot is an area of space 13 billion-years-old and 1.8 light years across, which is 0.000015 degrees Celsius (0.00027 degrees Fahreinheit) colder than its surroundings. This proves that our universe might just be one of an endless string of realities, an evidence of parallel universes.
The cause of the massive supervoid is yet to be explained, and a study by Durham University states that it might not exist at all.
Professor Tom Shanks, co-author of the study, writes:
We can’t entirely rule out that the Spot is caused by an unlikely fluctuation explained by the standard model [of particle physics]. But if that isn’t the answer, then there are more exotic explanations.
Perhaps the most exciting of these is that the Cold Spot was caused by a collision between our universe and another bubble universe. If further, more detailed, analysis … proves this to be the case then the Cold Spot might be taken as the first evidence for the multiverse.
The study also explains that galaxies in the Cold Spot cluster around smaller voids that spread over the region like bubbles, and there is as much as 2% probability that the spot was formed randomly.
Based on the evidence, the hypothesis that Cold Spot indicates our cosmos contains an infinite number of parallel universes, which in turn, contain an infinite number of realities might just be true.
In a piece in the Guardian, an astronomy expert Dr Stuart Clarke wrote:
These uncountable realms sit side by side in higher dimensions that our senses are incapable of perceiving directly. Each alternate universe carries its own different version of reality.
There will be one where you wrote this column and I read it… even a really weird one in which Donald Trump uses twitter to spread nothing but amusing cat videos.
It will be interesting to see what other evidence of parallel universes can scientists now find based on this new found evidence of parallel universes.
You know what this means? Everything that you have been watching in Rick and Morty might just be true, and there might be someone like Rick and morty, travelling through parallel dimensions and eating Szechuan saunce. Or even the Matthew McConaughey’s character in Interstellar might be out there somewhere.
So, what might you be doing in the parallel universe?
